Award Winning Legislator

Valerie has been honored for her outstanding leadership involving issues that affect our community.

Valerie Wiener was:

- Selected as the only state legislator in the U.S. to participate in the “White House Conference on School Safety” (1998).

- Named one of 27 U.S. “Healthy School Heroes” (the only state legislator so recognized) at the “Healthy Schools Summit” in Washington, D.C. (2002).

- Honored as the Southern Nevada “Healthcare Policy Hero” by the Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center (2003).

- Recognized as “Legislator of the Year” by Nevada’s Society of Public Health Educators (2004).

- Inducted as the first woman honoree into the “Leadership Las Vegas Hall of Fame” (2006).
